This Board's Story
Channel Bottom Twinzer
A true mod fish!
The forward setpoint on the fin cluster makes this glide machine as skatey and, at times slidey, feel as turn friendly as you can imagine. There’s so much to say about this model you may need to contact me to get all the info that this board hides away in its complex bottom and extremely flat rocker.
The trailer fin option plug gives you the chance to warm up to a completely different feel and give more grip in your bottom turns, if needed. If you are heavy back-footed, this helps to get used to the speed in your cutbacks and create a slightly tighter turning radius. I prefer to surf this board without the trailer fin and being over 225 lbs, I run the larger fin size I offer. This will give anyone who weighs more the extra drive and a bit more hold that you're gonna need because these boards are so damn fast and loose.
The channel system is slightly shallower than your average channel bottom boards on the market. I developed this style to be much more forgiving when the conditions are bumpier, preventing the board from tracking and locking up with direction changes. If you notice the outer primary channel system curves and points toward the rails – this picks up water flow laterally VERY efficiently – transitioning in and out of turns is effortless while maintaining the speed and looseness an advanced surfer requires.
Have you ever ridden a twinzer? The concept behind these is similar to a twinny: the lack of trailer fin allows you to "squirt" into waves and take off down the line with a vengeance! There's no trailer fin drag like a thruster and water moves freely through and out the tail. With a wide thin tail, it's a sensitive lift that holds really well with its sharp swallow tail corners.
In addition, the fins are really their own animal. Developed in the shaping room and refined in the water – these slightly rakey, thin-tipped, ultralight foam core epoxy fins are the perfect combination of glide, drive, hold and release – relative to the design of the outline of course. The additional canard fin creates the signature twinzer style setup, inspired by the old school world champion Martin Potter boards of the 90's, which offers a unique additional speed factor of channeling water at a high rate. It will not slow down much – even when you expect it to in tiny surf. The small canard fin, set in close tandem to the larger twin fin, gives it a superior grip and well balanced stability at high speeds, as the waves get juicier.
It is a unique board that is a must in any quiver that really truly is my quiver killer.
